DEPRESSION & ANXIETY
Depression and anxiety may seem like opposites but I view them as related, functioning in similar ways, to keep big feelings at bay.
I think of depression as a "pressing down" of feelings. Feelings that you maybe aren't yet aware of but have an inkling might be there under the surface.
Anxiety can be like a lid on a pot of boiling water, it's shaking intensely as all the feelings bubble and boil underneath.

Our work together helps you get to the underlying feelings that are currently out of your awareness.

I use a variety of approaches to working with these troubling states. They include psychoanalytic or depth therapy. Where we pay attention to what happened in the past to set you up for a depressed or anxious state.

I use an IFS (Internal Family Systems) lens to help up get to know where these feelings are stored inside of you, how to contact them give them the reassurance that they need to feel safe again.

I also work practically using skills from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). These resilience building strategies help to solidify positive changes into a daily practice to keep your head above water and moving forward with
your life.
